Cold Remedies
It is always useful to opt for some natural cold remedies to fight the common cold. However, if the symptoms become severe suggesting that it is more than just a light flu or cold, don’t hesitate to consult your doctor.
For fighting the common cold, you may use the following natural cold remedies:
•Herbal Therapy: As garlic contains an effective antibiotic called allicin, it helps to prevent common cold and aids in the reduction of symptoms. You may use cloves of garlic in crushed or chopped form. Some people even chew garlic or use raw garlic in foods to fight the common cold. Buying garlic supplements from drugstores could be another option to steer clear of common cold.
•Juice Therapy: Fresh pineapple juice is another one of the natural cold remedies that does wonder to fight common cold. This juice is less acidic and less allergenic as compared to orange juice. Pineapple juice contains high levels of vitamin C, which helps in breaking down the mucus. When suffering from common cold, drink four to eight ounces of pineapple juice for a minimum of four times every day. Remember to dilute the juice with water in 1:1 ratio.
•Food Therapy: Grapefruit which is a rich source of vitamin C helps to fight cold and detoxifies the liver. Your liver plays an important role in the body’s immune system. When this immunity gets damaged, you will need some ingredient that’s alkaline in nature (not acidic) to detoxify it. Though the citrus fruits become alkaline after the body metabolizes them, their sweetness is excessive. So, it does not help in proper liver drainage. As a result of this, grapefruit is the ideal choice for having better detoxification. Consume one or more grapefruit each day along with its white bitter pulp to enhance your immunity and prevent common cold.
•Aromatherapy: Use proper scents like niaouli and ravensare (having antiviral and anti-infectious characteristics) in an aromatic diffuser to get relief from the symptoms of common cold. You can mix these strong oils having a slightly medicinal smell with some sweeter-smelling oils like those derived from cherry, rosewood, coconut, lemon, pine, blackberry or eucalyptus. Begin aromatherapy as soon as you feel weak and have the initial symptoms of a common cold.
You may use some other natural ways too to stay away from common cold. Homeopathy is one such method that has a huge fan following as it cures without giving rise to side effects that chemical drugs may often cause. So, use natural cold remedies and ward off common cold.
